It took more than two-and-a-half years but it finally happened on 1 November – a cut in interest rates by the Reserve Bank.

There are numerous aspects of a home loan to consider, but the ‘headline’ interest rate is a key focus for many people.

While much of the media focus is on the RBA’s deliberations each month, lenders have been lowering their fixed home loan rates in the background for the past couple of months. As a result, there are some great fixed rate offers available right now.

The Reserve Bank has broken a 31-month drought, lowering the cash rate by 0.25 per cent on 1 November, and reducing repayments on a $300,000 home loan by about $50 a month. more.
