These three friends pooled their money and dove into Sydney's property market.
Like many young professionals, sisters Anthea and Jane, both chartered accountants, and their friend Sarah, a lawyer, were keen to get off the rental merry-go-round and gain a foothold in Sydney’s residential property market.
"On our own, a mortgage for a one or two bedroom apartment would have been a burden" explains Sarah. "A three bedroom unit bought together was much more affordable."
Having joined forces, the women approached a major lender which had a home loan scheme associated with their respective professional bodies. "They were reluctant to give us a home loan, though, because Jane and I had just started new jobs", says Sarah.
So the friends sought the assistance of Smartline Mortgage Broker Sam Ghoreyshi. "Our Smartline Mortgage Broker did all the research and discussed a number of options with us," says Jane.
Having secured the loan, the friends were able to purchase a three-bedroom home in the trendy Sydney suburb of Balmain.
According to Sarah, the women couldn’t be happier. "We’ve been able to split the repayments and make contributions from individual home loan accounts, which makes keeping control of our money simpler," she says. "We’re all very excited to be in the market and finally own our own home."
