After moving State, Sallyann knew who to call when looking for a loan.
When 27 year-old Sallyann moved from Adelaide to Canberra to work for the Australian Government, she rented a property until she was comfortable about committing to a long term plan in the nation’s capital.
A few months later Sallyann was in love with the city and began the process of purchasing a home. Through the recommendation of her parents, Sallyann sought out Smartline.
“I was reasonably organised. I had a sizeable deposit following the sale of a property I owned in Adelaide, but in the five years since purchasing the property, the market had changed a lot and I was in a new city,” said Sallyann. “There were so many different home loans around, different products, and it was a more competitive market.”
Sallyann's Smartline Mortgage Broker Dionne Lee, who formerly worked in the Canberra real estate market, not only provided loan recommendations, but also identified suburbs for Sallyann to look at, and even came along during property inspections.
“My Smartline Mortgage Broker Dionne provided a valuable objective, second opinion. She kept her eye out for defects, she considered building age, body corporate levies and rates, what to look for in an apartment, price range, and clarified some legal differences between Canberra and South Australia such as the bargaining process and settlement procedure,” said Sallyann.
Following loan approval, Sallyann settled on a three-bedroom house in Rivett in Canberra’s Weston Creek district. “I was looking at apartments but when I saw this house, I knew it was the one for me. I like space and with three-bedrooms there is plenty of room for shoes and clothes,” joked Sallyann.
