Couple uses home equity to fund lifestyle investment.
Seven years into the mortgage on their three bedroom family home, self-employed couple the Humphries decided it was time to combine investment savvy with leisure.
With the help of Smartline’s Cathy Anderson the couple did just that and invested in a coastal property on Yorke Peninsula.
“We knew we had built considerable equity in our property but were not sure of exactly what to do with it and how best to use it,” said Leanne Humphries.
The couple did their homework and identified strong capital growth potential in the Yorke Peninsula area.
So the Humphries chose to invest in a holiday shack, approximately two hours drive from their home. The coastal property will provide them with a holiday rental income stream as well as an ideal weekend retreat from their business, Crafers Copy Centre.
“It really is a dream investment for us. Being self-employed taking holidays can be tricky – but with our own beach property, we can escape any weekend we feel like,” Leanne said.
Comfortable with the performance of their first investment, the Humphries are keen to invest in a second property within the next 12 months and are considering acquiring a commercial property investment.
