Self-employed couple overcome all obstacles.
For Zyg and Tracey-Lee, refinancing their mortgage to unlock their home’s equity was not the straightforward process they were hoping it would be.
The couple wanted to extend and renovate home, pay off their credit cards and, invest with any extra cash; however, they needed to refinance to do so.
The Sobolski’s first attempt at refinancing they describe as an ‘unrivalled disaster’. They responded to a newspaper advertisement and the company couldn’t provide them with a home loan solution yet still charged them a fee!
Despite this initial setback Zyg, a self-employed maintenance contractor, decided to approach a low doc financier. But he was unimpressed at the application fees, the high interest rate, restrictions of the recommended mortgage and the ongoing mortgage costs.
“We thought ‘third time lucky’ when we contacted a major non-bank lender and were told it would be a great deal, only to find out we would be slugged with exorbitant costs and high interest rates again,” said Zyg.
Now disillusioned, the couple tried Smartline Mortgage Broker Wendy Perry who was recommended by a friend. “She listened to our requests and went away and evaluated our options, keeping in contact throughout the process. She took the pressure off us which was a relief, and she responded quickly,” said Zyg.
“Ten days later, we had the loan we wanted and we even saved on application fees thanks to our adviser ’s knowledge,” added Zyg.
The couple plans to extend their existing home to create more space for their two children. “Smartline came highly recommended and exceeded that recommendation. We have been so impressed we have started referring our friends,” said Zyg.
