Smartline names year’s best franchisees

14/09/2009

Smartline Personal Mortgage Advisers has named Cathy Anderson as its Franchise Owner of the Year – the second year in a row she has taken out the group’s highest honour.

South Australian-based Ms Anderson won the prestigious award on Saturday (12 September) at Smartline’s annual conference in Queenstown, New Zealand out of more than 140 franchisees nationally.

The conference also celebrated Smartline’s 10th anniversary.

As in 2008, Ms Anderson wrote more loans than anyone nationally in Smartline in 2009, in only her fourth year with the group.

However, the award recognises more than just business volumes, with consideration also given to those who show strong leadership, are aligned to the Smartline brand and systems, and treat Smartline and business partners with respect.

Ms Anderson also took out the High Achievement Award.

Smartline Managing Director Chris Acret said Ms Anderson represented the many qualities that the group as a whole prided itself on.

“Cathy is passionate about assisting her clients and providing them with a high level of service and advice while having a strong understanding of the home loan environment and its many current intricacies,” Mr Acret said.

“She is also very committed to the Smartline group and the mortgage advising industry as a whole and despite the many demands of her own business is actively involved in improving and promoting Smartline and the industry.”

Earlier this year Ms Anderson was named Operator of the Year by the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia (MFAA), the highest accolade in the mortgage and finance industry.

Several other Smartline franchise owners were also winners at the group’s annual awards:

  • Marketing Champion (for consistency, innovation and creativity in marketing efforts) – Karen LeComte (Qld)
  • Lenders Choice Award (voted on by Smartline’s panel of lenders and assessed on loan submission quality and professionalism when dealing with lenders) – Brad Gooda (Qld)
  • Client Care Award (based on client feedback on settlement of the loan) – Graeme Inglis (NSW)
  • Rookie of the Year (for franchise owners in their first full 12 months with Smartline) – Karen Forbes (NSW) / Jodie Skelton (Vic)
  • Rising Star of the Year (the franchisee who has strongly grown their business over the year) – Miriam Agnos (SA)

Mr Acret said the high calibre of this year’s awards winners confirmed the strength of the group since its establishment in 1999.

“With the hard work of the past 10 years – coupled with the recent merger with Mortgage Force – taking us to in excess of 200 franchisees nationally, a client base of more than 100,000 and a loan portfolio of more than

$10 billion, we are very proud of what we have achieved,” Mr Acret said.

“We believe the franchise model we have developed with its benchmark systems and marketing, focus on quality and passionate franchisees will see us well placed for continued growth and success in the coming years.”

Smartline was recently named Australia’s top franchise system by topfranchise.com.au and was ranked number 2 by Mortgage Business in its top 25 brokerages.
