Michael Brennan - Personal Mortgage Adviser

Co-founding one of Australia’s first mortgage broking groups, in the early 1990s allowed Michael Brennan to pursue his two passions – working with clients to achieve their financial goals and playing football in the AFL. Twenty years on, while Michael’s successful playing career with the West Coast Eagles has ended, his love of being a mortgage broker still burns strong.

"Establishing Mortgage Force with colleague Neil Pinner in 1991 gave me the opportunity to break out from what I saw as the rigidity of the banking world – both in terms of my own career and what I could offer clients,” Michael said. “Nine years with the Commonwealth Bank had given me enormous experience in everything from home loans and personal loans to small business finance, but I could see that mortgage broking provided a great opportunity to assist clients in a more personalised way.” Michael and Neil went on to build Mortgage Force into one of Australia’s most respected mortgage broking groups before merging the business with Smartline in July 2009. Despite his commitments in managing the growing the business and supporting the group’s consultants, Michael always continued to personally service his large client base, assisting them with their home loan needs.

"While it was exciting to grow a successful business, I never wanted to lose touch with what I loved initially – advising our clients on the best way to structure and obtain a loan,” Michael said. "I love the fact that being a mortgage broker means we provide an essential service but in a lot more responsive way than is delivered directly by the banks. Being able to provide that personalised service was a big driver in establishing Mortgage Force and almost 20 years on, that personalised service and focus on building a relationship with our clients is more important than ever.”

Michael services a broad cross-section of clients, from first home buyers,
people changing homes as a result of upgrading or downsizing, and property investors. “I encourage all my clients to take a holistic approach to their finances and regularly work with the accountants, financial planners or managers of my clients to ensure that the financing of their property purchase is aligned with their ‘bigger picture’ financial goals.”

Michael's mortgage broking business is based in Applecross. He is fully mobile and services all areas including but not limited to Booragoon, Ardross and Mt Pleasant and can visit you outside of working hours in the comfort of your own home. He can look after all your financing needs including personal loans, leasing and commercial and business financing.
