SecondBite

SecondBite is dynamic organisation that sources good quality, fresh surplus food from Melbourne markets , retailers, events, caterers and restaurants,  that would otherwise go to waste, instead delivering it to over 55 food relief agencies that provide meals to thousands of homeless and disadvantaged people.

In 2007, SecondBite stopped 132 tonnes of fresh food going to landfill. This year we intend on collecting 250 tonnes which will set us well on the way to reaching our key goal of providing food for 1 million meals by 2011. Every dollar donated will provide 2-3 nutritious 500gm meals.Last year, 3.28 million tonnes of fresh food ended up as landfill in Australia whilst hundreds of thousands of men, woman and children went hungry. 

SecondBite is committed to making a positive difference by sourcing good quality, fresh nutritious food, that would otherwise go to waste and re-distributing it to over 44 agencies and thousands of people in need.
