After 11 years in home lending with two major banks – and as many years eyeing business ownership – Michael Saliba took the plunge in 2014 and “hasn’t looked back”.
Michael opened his business in partnership with Mehdi Zoghbi with a wish to use his knowledge and experience in lending, marketing and networking to create something meaningful for his future.
“I know it’s a cliché to say it, but I really do love it, and I haven’t looked back,” Michael says. Set yourself up for success and get out there and do it. Don’t hesitate. Differentiate yourself. While passion and enthusiasm are important, do take the time to clarify your key strengths and points of difference – then sell yourself.
“I don’t feel like I’m working anymore. I’m having fun getting to know people and helping them to achieve their financial goals. It could be said the loan writing is a bi-product of doing what I love.”
“I honestly feel at home working with Smartline. All of the head office staff feel like family members and every broker I’ve met has been genuinely interested in helping and seeing us become successful – support is offered unselfishly.”
Within four months of completing his training and accreditation, Michael had written more than $7 million in approvals and settled $845,000.
Michael sees a bright future with Smartline and has a long-term plan to manage a team of brokers.
