Andrew Tonkin – Personal Mortgage Adviser
Andrew Tonkin prides himself on being approachable and personable – two very important qualities which allow him to establish an instant connection with people.
Andrew says it’s important to build an immediate rapport with clients – regardless of their needs and background – because they depend on him to manage a very important and sometimes stressful process.
“It’s important to be able to establish a trustworthy relationship with a client because financing a home or investment property can be daunting and stressful,” Andrew explains.
“Clients must work with an adviser they can rely on.
“My clients are kept informed every step of the way and I’m always available to them to answer their queries and concerns.
“Importantly, too, I think the most critical part of arranging a loan for people is to listen to what people want rather than tell them what I think they need – when you get that right, it makes for a great experience all ‘round.”
With 25 years experience in the banking, finance and broking industry, his list of clients, who regularly seek his expertise, speaks for itself.
“It’s a career highlight to be able to say that I have built a business from scratch that now supports more than 250 people with their lending needs,” Andrew enthuses.
“If I do my job properly my existing clients will continue to support me and recommend their friends and family – and that’s the biggest compliment anyone can pay me.”
Andrew assists his clients with all their lending requirements – from first home buyers making their first property purchase, through to experienced investors with complex lending needs.
In 2004 Andrew joined Mortgage Force, which merged with Smartline in July 2009. Prior to that he worked with ANZ for 18 years before spending a year managing a credit union.
While most of Andrew’s work is conducted predominantly in Adelaide’s southern suburbs, where he lives, he offers a mobile service throughout the metropolitan area.
