Celebrity Haven, The Cairns Post 8 Feb 2021

POLARISING  KIIS  FM  host Kyle Sandilands and new girlfriend Tegan Kynaston have been spotted in town in recent days, and Cairns post now can reveal details about their purchase of a 2.5ha tropical hideaway on Mowbray River Road. The couple are the latest of a string of celebrities to call Port Douglas their second home.

Inner-city site for new CQU campus, The Cairns Post 8 Feb 2021

The Far North is a step closer to score in a $500m economic injection over a decade after Cairns Regional Council freed up land for a new inner-city university campus. CQ University has been on the hunt for a site to build a new CBD campus and had its eyes firmly set on a vacant block at the corner of Grafton and Abbott streets.

Leading FNQ and hospitality and tourism advocates are calling on all governments to create recovery packages for all sectors of the tourism industry after JobKeeper ends in March in a bid to keep the industry afloat. It comes as Federal trade, Tourism and Investment Minister Dan Tehan touches down in Cairns to talk with tourism operators and advocacy groups on Monday about support for Cairns post- JobKeeper.

TOURISM businesses will have to wait until early March to find out what kind of support they will receive after JobKeeper ends just weeks later, but Tourism Minister Dan Tehan says it is “100 per cent my aim” that there will still be support. He revealed the new support would not be an extension of JobKeeper, but that it would be “targeted and temporary” once the details were finalised and provide direct relief.
