It is my great pleasure to announce two successful recipients of the Smartline Community Grant Initiative from our region.
With over 700 entries Australia wide, selecting the most worthy recipients was certainly a difficult task. This exercise has reminded us about how many hard working individuals and groups give up their own free time to make our community a better place.
Here are two very worthy groups who will each be putting $500 to very good use.
Animal Care for Seniors at Home (ACSAH)
ACSAH is a new community organisation that has grown from a desire to assist the elderly and frail living at home care for their animals. It is unique in Cairns, run by volunteers and provides services such as dog walking, transporting animals to vet appointments and some minimal assistance with veterinary costs. ACSAH also attempts to arrange fostering in emergency situations. As this organisation is still developing, the $500 grant will be well used towards stationery costs to promote the service, incidentals for extending its services to the regional areas surrounding Cairns and for assisting the clients with vet bills. If you know of someone needing support you can reach ACSAH via email at firstname.lastname@example.org

Mission Beach Surf Lifesaving Club
The MBSLSC is a small rural surf club that is run solely by volunteers. These volunteers not only patrol our beaches they also train our nippers. The club is always in need of new surf equipment to keep the beaches safe and to train the surf life savers of the future. The kids also are required to travel long distances to compete with other clubs and this is costly for the club. It is a GREAT community club that supports the community and in turn needs community support. $500 is going to be put to very good use.
Club members with the $500 cheque from Smartline
For every loan we organise, $10 is paid to one of the many charities we proudly support on an ongoing basis. Together with Mortgage Force and The Mortgage Gallery – two companies we recently merged with – Smartline has donated over $1.5 million to charity.
