Favourite Quote: “The only impossible journey is the one you never begin.”
As someone who started their own business with Smartline 11 years ago, I love this quote because it reminds me that you just need to get out there and start doing what you want to do, even if it feels hard at first. In fact, it’s good advice for anyone considering becoming a mortgage broker; if you just take a chance and do your best, I believe you’ll get there. I’d also suggest polishing up your communication skills and remaining flexible – these are essential qualities for doing well in this business. Having a background in finance too is a huge bonus.
I’ve met many fantastic clients over the years – from first home buyers to upgraders and investors and everything in between. I see them all as pretty special – everyone has their own unique stories and I care about them all. I feel blessed to have been able to help them achieve what they want to do financially. I do think females can be more compassionate and better listeners in many cases (although of course, not always), and for this reason, it would be great to see more female brokers in the industry.
I’ve really loved working for Smartline. While we all run our own ship, each franchisee is also part of the bigger organisation, and this helps a lot. Being able to chat to other franchisees and run different scenarios past each other or bounce ideas of each other is so helpful and makes you feel incredibly supported. I’ve found almost all Smartline franchisees to be very willing to assist; it’s like a giant family!
I’m inspired by my family and by the idea of being financially happy. Being a Smartline broker has certainly helped me achieve the latter!
