Ian Winn

Ian Winn, former CEO of Smartline, is now one of our very own mortgage advisers. Ian has close to 30 years’ experience in the financial industry, having had a number of senior roles throughout his career.

He has now established his own business as a Smartline Mortgage Adviser. Through this new role, he is able to really apply his depth of knowledge of the finance industry, and use it to help people build long term wealth by making educated, intelligent decisions about their borrowing.

“I really love working with people and using my experience to help them find great solutions. Becoming an adviser has been a real privilege, as I can make a difference to people’s lives”.

“I’m numerical, and can explain to people how their finances will be impacted by the different decisions they make,” says Ian. “Lending can be an incredibly complex topic and if it’s not your area of expertise, it can be a bit daunting. I really love being able to educate clients and help them understand how borrowing works. This means they can make informed decisions that will improve their financial outcomes.”

Ian offers his clients an in-depth understanding of our banking system and is well-versed in what different lenders can offer borrowers. Over the past 30 years he has seen many different loan situations and challenges and he knows how various scenarios can play out for borrowers.

“I can help my clients find a solution to pretty much any finance challenge. I’ve seen a lot over the years and I know there are many ways to achieve a certain outcome – some better than others. If my clients are having trouble getting a loan for whatever reason, I’ll look outside the square to see if we can find a way. And I’ll keep working on behalf of my clients until, together, we find the best way forward.

“Sometimes clients may not realise there is a problem with their existing loan structure. But once I come to understand their long term goals and current financial situation, I can often suggest a more suitable, or more financially sound, way of achieving their objectives. At the end of the day, I just want to help my clients find the most appropriate and competitive loan I can, to ensure they are on the best path towards building personal wealth.”
