For me, it’s a case of ‘the more the merrier’ when it comes to female brokers. I believe I have deeper connections with my clients than the average broker and I think many of my female colleagues do too. I’m inspired by people like Oprah Winfrey, who is a real champion for building women’s self-worth. She helps women believe in themselves and be better people.
While I am relatively new to Smartline, I’ve been in the lending industry for over 20 years, spending much of my time with the big banks. But now I can focus on looking more broadly and finding the right lender for my clients. For example, recently one of my clients signed a contract for their new home but their loan was declined by a big bank due to a fairly small detail – the bank’s mortgage insurer wouldn’t accept their casual income in their serviceability assessment. They came to see me and I was able to find a lender whose insurer was more flexible, and arrange the home loan they desperately needed for their purchase. They were so happy, they contacted me regularly to offer me home cooked meals!
Favourite quote? “In life, the difference between winning and losing is attention to detail.”
Favourite movie or book? My favourite movie is Casablanca. It’s just so romantic and idealistic and that’s what I aspire to. Also, I’d love to travel to the Middle East!
What makes you jump out of bed each day? My passion for my job and my commitment to my clients. I am so glad I became a mortgage broker with Smartline. It has a great culture and it’s really a fantastic group of people; everyone has been so kind and helpful to me as a newbie, which isn’t always what you encounter out in the world!
